my first film SLR
my first digital SLR

handfuls of negatives
photoshoots with my friends
photoshoots with the flowers
disposable cameras
pictures plastering my walls
my love of photography
started when I was a kid
It all started as a preteen with disposable cameras and planning photoshoots with my best friend. Eventually I got one of those non-disposable, cheap point-and-shoot cameras and went through a lot of film. The majority of that film would end up taped to my bedroom walls in a very late '90s and early 2000s haphazard way. As a teen I inherited my uncle's film SLR and learned what the heck an f-sop was and how to shoot in manual. In 2006, I bought my first digital SLR camera and enrolled in a distance education photography course that I completed through Canada Post. The days before online education were rough! I spent a lot of my free time taking pictures of flowers, bees, backyard snowboarding, biking and whatever else I could point my camera at. It wasn't long after getting my DSLR that my friends started asking me to do family photos for them. In 2007 my brother asked me to be his wedding photographer and of course I said yes. Friends and family saw something in me I didn't see and took a chance on me. THEY told me I was a photographer and I trusted them and ran with it. I'm so grateful I did and so grateful for the people who gave me the confidence and told me I had value.
I grew up in Grand Forks & Christina Lake in Boundary Country, the region between the Okanagan and the Kootenays in British Columbia, Canada. I have been photographing weddings and families for over 17 years. With over 50 weddings under my belt and countless family sessions, I've built up a lot of techniques and experience in the industry. July 2019 my partner and I moved to Lake Country, a small town packed full of, you guessed it, lakes! Located near Kelowna, BC.
Creativity is my therapy! Whether it’s making short films, info-graphics, music, crocheted stuffed animals and clothes, or taking portraits, I feel best when I'm creating something. The urge to create pushed me towards a diploma in Digital Arts and New Media from Selkirk College in Nelson, BC in 2017. I strive to keep current with photography concepts and techniques by prioritizing learning in my daily life.
I cover a large area of the Okanagan; Osoyoos, Oliver, Penticton, Naramata, Summerland, Peachland, Kelowna, Lake Country, Vernon, Armstrong, Salmon Arm & Kamloops. I will also travel to Grand Forks, Castlegar, Trail, and Nelson for weddings. Not in the Kootenay or Okanagan area? I'm open to any destination, don't hesitate to ask!
